On June 26, Xiaomi announced the prices for its new YU7 car. The car comes in three models: YU7 Standard: 253,500 yuan; YU7 Pro: 279,900 yuan; YU7 Max: 329,900 yuan. The YU7 offers a variety of colors, including Pearl White, Ocean Blue, Dusk Purple, Shadow Teal, Dawn Pink, Basalt Gray, Lava Orange, Titanium Silver, and Emerald Green.
Before the launch, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun personally tested the car. He drove it from Beijing to Shanghai twice — once in November last year and again in February this year. Each trip was 1,250 km and took about 15 hours. He started at 6 AM and arrived around 9-10 PM. So far, the YU7 has completed 6.49 million kilometers of road tests.
All models are now open for pre-order, and Xiaomi reports a surprising 289,000 reservations (预订) in the first hour. A 5,000 yuan deposit is required to reserve. Lei Jun felt more assured about the YU7 than last year’s SU7 model. “Interest in the YU7 is three times higher than the SU7 at this time,” he said. His live-streams on short-video platforms consistently attracted an audience of over 100,000, and many clicked the special link to learn about the car.
At the same event, Xiaomi also introduced AI glasses priced at 1,999 yuan. These glasses have a 12-megapixel (百万像素) camera for photos and videos. You can make video calls, livestream, or use them as open-ear headphones.
