小妖怪走出“浪浪山”

Nobody, a new Chinese cartoon movie, is released this month. It is the first long movie from the short stories Yao-Chinese Folktales (中国奇谭).
The film tells the story of four small monsters: a pig, a toad, a mink, and a chimpanzee. They dress up as the famous group from the old Chinese story Journey to the West – the monk Xuanzang and his three followers. After the pig monster makes the king angry, they run away from home. They start a journey to find special Buddhist scrolls (佛经) for long life.
But their trip changes. While looking for the scrolls, they must also fight bad people and help trapped villagers. Most importantly, they learn about themselves and become better friends.
Making this movie took over two years. More than 600 artists made it. They created over 1,800 shots (scenes) and drew more than 2,000 background pictures.
The movie looks special with ideas from old Chinese ink paintings. The team used bright colors, special lights, and real spaces. This makes the movie’s world feel like magic but also real life. Chen Liaoyu, the head artist, wanted to make this beautiful style.
