In Africa, there is a special tree named the baobab. People call it the “monkey bread tree” because monkeys love to eat its fruit.
A man in China, Mr. Lin Rongzhen, brought some baobab trees to Zhanjiang in Guangdong 18 years ago. These trees grow very slowly. It usually takes more than 20 years for them to bear fruit. Now, two trees in Zhanjiang have started to grow fruits. Each tree can have over two hundred fruits!
The fruit of the baobab tree is dry and looks like bread. People can make it into powder. They can add it to porridge, yogurt, or even use it to make cakes and cookies. It is so useful!
