一杯茶,一杯咖啡,哪个更健康?

For many people, a cup of tea or coffee is an essential part of their day. Research has shown that both drinks can be good for health, which leads to a common question: is one better than the other?

Studies indicate that coffee might help maintain a more youthful appearance. One 2024 study from Peking Union Medical College tracked more than 16,000 adults between the ages of 45 and 65. By comparing their beverage choices with skin aging signs, researchers discovered that those who drank coffee regularly had roughly a 15% lower risk of facial aging. Earlier research also pointed out that certain natural ingredients in coffee, like chlorogenic acid (绿原酸), could help shield the skin from sun-related damage.

That said, tea should not be ignored. In fact, combining both drinks may offer the best health results. A 2021 study covering more than 360,000 people aged 50 to 74 revealed that drinking both tea and coffee was associated with the lowest risk of stroke and dementia. Similarly, a 2020 study involving about 5,000 diabetes patients found that having four cups of green tea and two cups of coffee each day was related to a 63% lower risk of death. Scientists explain that both beverages contain antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that contribute to these benefits.

To gain the most from tea and coffee, experts recommend following a few guidelines. Enjoy them in moderation — usually a few cups per day is considered safe. It’s also better to avoid drinking them too late in the day to protect sleep quality. Lastly, limiting added sugar helps preserve the natural health advantages of these popular drinks.
