For most kids, a birthday party means balloons, cake, and inviting some close friends. It’s the one day of the year when it’s totally acceptable to be selfish and make everything about you. But for Grant Mullen of Coeur d’Alene, his birthday wish was all about others.
Grant regularly joins his father volunteering at a local center for people with special needs. “It’s so important to get your children involved at a young age,” his father said. “It really makes a huge difference.”
When his birthday rolled around, he didn’t just ask for gifts or games. Instead, he asked his parents if he could invite everyone at the special needs center to his celebration. When asked why, Grant’s answer was simple and heartfelt (真诚的): “Because they don’t get invited to birthdays. Sometimes people don’t get as much love.”
Grant’s birthday wish turned into a beautiful moment of joy, reminding everyone that the best celebrations are the ones where nobody is left out.
