It is 2025 now. Chen Xiulong is a warm-hearted driver from Bengbu. Over the past ten years, he has used his own car to offer free rides to people going his way. He has helped more than 1,150 passengers, building trust and kindness across the city.

He started this journey ten years ago when he joined a local carpool (拼车) group. Since then, he has shared his travel routes in advance and never charged any money. “I won’t take money — it’s about helping, not earning,” Chen says. Though his family runs a small business and needs income, he believes free rides are the true meaning of public welfare.

Chen always makes safety his first rule. He drives carefully and plans his trips ahead. Thanks to that, he has never had an accident in ten years. His car is now old, but it carries many warm stories. He says even when he changes cars one day, he will keep giving free rides.

Not only does Chen help people travel, but he also volunteers at nursing homes and helps students in need. What’s more, his daughter often joins him. She has been learning from her father since first grade and now understands how valuable his work is.

Chen Xiulong may be an ordinary man, but his kindness has made him a special person in his city. “As long as someone needs a ride,” he says, “I’ll keep going.”
