12岁女孩凭流利外语与销售才能惊艳网友

Recently, a video got popular online. It showed a 12-year-old girl named Li Ruoxi at a stationery (文具) shop in Huangsha, Guangzhou. She spoke good English to a foreigner. In the video, she said the stationery was from a well-known brand of good quality. When discussing the price, she told the buyer, “You’ll get a better price if you buy in bulk (大量).” Many Internet users  ___▲____ her — she speaks English well and is good at selling.

Li, 12, is a seventh-grader in Foshan. She started helping with sales in August 2024 and has since helped sell over 100,000 yuan worth of goods. Li has worked hard at English: she has been taking one-on-one online English classes since Grade 1, using free apps to memorize words and reading English picture books every day. Now, after five years, her vocabulary has grown to the same level as a high school student’s. She has also got the PET certificate.

Li’s parents encourage Li to use English more. They think it is very important that she memorizes words and practices speaking English every morning and evening. Her mother believes language learning requires “more listening, more reading, and more speaking.” She says people should create chances actively when there is no language environment.
