One day, I was traveling alone. Unluckily, my trip was full of delays (耽搁) and I missed several connections. When I arrived at the train station, it was already late at night. It was very quiet and most people were in a hurry to get home.
I had to wait for another hour for my train. My phone was almost out of power, and I hadn’t eaten anything since afternoon. I sat on a cold bench, feeling tired and upset because of the terrible day.
Soon an old man sat nearby. We nodded politely to each other. Later, he walked to the small café in the station. When he returned, he put a cup of tea next to me. I told him he didn’t have to do this. He just smiled and asked, “Long day?” I answered yes. We had a short talk about bad trips and late trains. When his train came, he stood up and said, “Next time you see someone having a hard day, you’ll know what to do.” Then he left.
