China won the 2015 FIBA Asian Championship(亚锦赛冠军) after beating the Philippines 78-67 in the men's basketball final(决赛). It was the 16th Asian title (冠军)for China. It has taken part in 21 Asian Championships since 1975, and the title made China successfully to the 2016 Rio Olympics(里约奥运会). The Philippines finished as runner-up while Iran placed third at the competition in Asian basketball world.
Chinese player Yi Jianlian finished with 11 points and 15 rebounds(篮板球), and was named MVP . Guo Ailun got 17 points, and 19-year-old rising star Zhou Qi got 16 points and 11 rebounds. The visitors started the game with a 5-0, and kept the lead to 15-10 before China answered with a 7-0 to take the lead. Yi and Zhou kept attacking the basket, to force the Philippine players to do nothing but making fouls. The host team finished the first quarter 23-19 and never looked back again. In the second quarter, Chinese Zhao Jiwei, Li Gen and Zhai Xiaochuan help China take the lead as many as 12 points.
"I'm happy that we can get the title," said Chinese head coach Gong Luming, who once guided China to get into the last eight in 1996 Olympics. "We don't have much experience, but we progressed a lot in the last two years."
