A new Fuxing (Rejuvenation) bullet train with 16 carriages is being tested in Beijing, its producer said on March 10, 2018.
Fuxing is the first bullet train designed and produced by Chinese engineers without help from the West. It can reach a top speed of 400 km/h (248 mile/h). Chinese companies spent just 13 years learning to build world-class high-speed trains from leading firms in developed countries, such as Japan, France, Germany and Canada.
With a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour, the new train measures 415 meters and has 16 carriages, twice as many as the operating ones. It can carry more than 1,100 passengers. The tests, made by a third party, include 28 examinations. The new train will receive design and producing permits(许可证) only after passing all tests.
Completely designed and produced in China, the Fuxing train is more spacious and energy-efficient, with longer service life and better reliability(可靠性). Over the past ten years, high-speed railways have developed rapidly in China. Now, the country has the world’s longest high-speed rail network. About a third of China’s high-speed rail network has been designed to run at a speed of 350 km/h.
