Gus is a 6-year-old pet dog. He is fighting with cancer(癌症). He’s now receiving chemotherapy(接受化疗) at a hospital and recently had to have one of his legs amputated(截肢).
On Sunday, Gus took off into a cold river. Gus’ owner, Cleo Young, said her grandkids Ella and Lucy watched him from shore(岸) swim far out. It was looking like he was looking for something under the water.
When he emerged from the water, he was not alone. “First time swimming with three legs, he comes out of the water with a baby otter(水獭) in his mouth!” said Ella.
The little cold otter was covered in sand, so they washed it with water from the river and carried it to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center(野生动物康复中心). The team there took good care of the otter. It became healthy again. They said if Gus hadn’t saved it, it would have died. “It was a Sunday we will remember for a long time,” Ella said
