You just never know when a short conversation might lead to an amazing act of kindness.
Two-time cancer survivor(癌症幸存者) Ouida Parish was in a dance party when she had a conversation with Kristine Rodriguez. She told the police officer how arduous her life had been recently, especially since her car hasn’t been working since October.
Kristine noticed that Ouida was sweating(流汗) after trying to win a dance competition with a cash(现金) prize, so she asked the woman a bit more about herself. Ouida told her that she couldn’t go to the hospital without her car. Kristine was touched that Ouida told these to her. “It’s just very good that she put that trust in us, and she would talk to me about things that are going on in her life,” she said.
The police officer decided to help Ouida, so she went back to the office and made a few calls. She knew some people who worked on cars. They helped fix the car for free.
“It means everything,” said Ouida. “I am so lucky, and I am so happy.” “This is part of our job to do more, to serve, and to listen to the problem, to see what we can do to help,” Kristine said.
