A photo became popular on the Internet. The photo made people feel sad: a sad-looking dog was tied to a fire hydrant(消防栓), and she was sitting next to a backpack filled with all of her belongings.
A note inside the bag explained that the dog is 6 years old and that her owner had fallen on hard times. While they love their dog and it was hard to abandon(遗弃) her, they hoped she’d find a new family to love and care for her.
Someone brought the dog to the Wisconsin Humane Society and shared the photo online. People were furious that someone would leave their dog in this way. They couldn’t understand the owner. The workers in the Wisconsin Humane Society wrote an open letter to the dog’s former(先前的) owner. In the letter, they told the owner the dog is safe, getting love and attention, and would soon find a new home. They also shared the note on the Internet and told people that the former owner loved the dog.
Just two weeks after the dog was found tied to the hydrant, this sweet dog was adopted(收养的) by a new, loving family! The workers also said they’d heard from the dog’s former owner who thanked them for what they did.
It’s a sweet ending to a sad story, and we’re left feeling even more thankful for the kind animal adopters.
