Holly Petitt and Keely Petitt are from Denver and they are mother and daughter. On July 30, 2022, as pilots, they flew their first Southwest flight(飞行) together, on Flight #3658 from Denver to St. Louis.
“People expected the flight and became excited as the first mother daughter team at Southwest Airlines has arrived!” Holly wrote in a Facebook post that morning. “It’s been a very emotional morning for me. One moment you are holding this small little baby in your arms and in a blink of an eye she is sitting next to you on the flight deck(舱面) of a Boeing 737 plane! I love you to the moon and back, Keely Petitt!”
According to Southwest Airlines, Holly dreamed of being a pilot after working as a flight attendant(空中乘务员) for another airline. She took flying lessons while she and her husband made money for their three children.
At 14 years old, Keely wanted to follow her mother and become a pilot. She got her pilot’s license and worked at Southwest Airlines five years ago.
“It’s been a dream coming true,” Holly added. “First, I found this job and fell in love with it, and then that one of my kids fell into this and in love with this job too. It’s great.”
“Not only are Holly and Keely making Southwest history, but also they’re breaking barriers and showing that women of all ages can make their dreams in aviation(航空) come true, and reach for the skies,” Southwest said.
