Finally, after all the exams and looking for school information, you’ve decided which high school you want to study in. The next problem is who will be your roommates. This situation can be one of the most stressful parts of your school life. There are some suggestions that will help you deal with the roommate situation.
Talk About Expectations(期望)
If you have specific expectations about your room, communicate those as soon as you can. If you like it quiet after 10 p.m., or you don’t like having a lot of guests over, your roommates should know. Think about what’s most important to you and be ready to learn what’s important to them. If you’re reasonable with their requests, they’re more likely to accommodate your requests as well.
______________
If something about your roommates’ situation isn’t working for you, be honest with your roommates. If you talk about it, it’s a lot easier to figure things out than if you just think about it. Come to your roommates with an open mind, but don’t lie if you feel upset about something. You should both always feel comfortable in your room.
Do Things Together
When you first arrive at your school, your roommates might be the persons you’re closest to at high school. If you want to go shopping or go to a club meeting, see if your roommates want to come. Having friends at new events makes things much less intimidating. Then you will be more relaxed.
