Last week, 89-year-old Marilyn Oettinger was shopping for food and other goods at the Star Market. She lost her husband a few months ago, and she was very sad. From then on, she seldom went out. In fact, that was the first time that she went out and bought something alone after her husband’s death.
Things were going fine until the checkout line, when Marilyn found her only credit card(信用卡) had been canceled(注销) two days earlier because it was in her late husband’s name. She didn’t take any money with her, and she was worried and almost cried. Suddenly, an amazing person behind her said “Don’t worry. I’ll help you.” Then he helped her pay the bill. The bill was $109. Marilyn Oettinger tried to get his name, but the man refused.
The Oettinger family is going to pay it forward with similar kindness on future trips to the supermarket. But they’re also trying to find the amazing person who helped pay the bill.
“We’re trying to find him. And even if he doesn’t want to come forward, we’re hoping that he’ll know that we’re very thankful for what he did,” Margie said. “It’s amazing to have an angel like that.”
